DIY Stores in FranceThe French have many good DIY stores I believe that Castorama is the French arm of B.Q. We seem to of spent days in Mr Bricolage. For larger items and building supplies you drive into the building supplies area, load up your car and pay at the barrier on your way out. If you've already bought things either in the store or elsewhere remember to declare them to the security man on your way in. Zone Industrials for DIY StoresOn the same Zone Industrial (junction 29 A20) in Limoges you will find Lapeyre if they are not open you will find a box on the door holding copies of their very extensive catalogues of doors, windows, bathrooms and kitchens. These are also handy for pricing up renovations. Bricomarche is in Bellac near the Gendarmerie and the Gamme Verte if you find Netto you're getting close. On the main road out of Bellac to La Souteraine is Weldom's they have all kinds of DIY materials and the staff there are really pleasant and helpful Castorama and Mr Bricolage are open through lunchtime Bricomarche close for lunch. You can see the impact of the British in these stores as increasingly they have signs up in English Store DIY DeliveryYou can arrange for items to be delivered from these stores but it is worth remembering that the distances are generally further than the UK so delivery charges can seem high. We had our shower unit delivered from Mr Bricolage, it took about a week to arrive, we paid 10% and the delivery charge at the time of ordering and the balance when it was delivered. If you expect to be buying lots of DIY materials get a loyalty card many of them exchange your points for cash back |
